United States FIPS Codes
FIPS codes for the U.S. supported by UNICEDE/2.
Do not use this scheme for CLASIC/2 data format files.
This Area code scheme is based on the country code and the U.S. FIPS codes for states and counties. This scheme can only be used to identify U.S. states and counties. Click a state below to view the supported counties and their codes. Please note that:
-
Each code begins with the three characters '01-'. This set of three characters is the country code for the United States. The leading zero is required.
-
The next two digits is the state FIPS code. For example, the FIPS code of Arizona is '04'. The leading zero is required.
-
The remaining three digits identify the county. The value used is the FIPS county code, which must be padded with leading zeros so that the county code occupies all three digits. For example, the FIPS code for Cochise county in Arizona is 3. In UNICEDE/2 it should be identified by three digits, as '003'.
EXAMPLE: The complete UNICEDE/2 code for Cochise county in Arizona, USA, is '01-04003'.
